Manufacturers Need to Focus Marketing Materials for Students
I have long been impressed with some of the slick marketing materials offered by manufacturers geared towards foodservice directors and decision makers about ways to utilize their products. They typically have great marketing departments and large budgets to back them up.
Most schools districts have limited budgets for creating high end promotional packages geared towards students to entice greater participation and use of a specific manufacturer’s products. Most manufacturer promotional packages geared towards students are scarce or non-existent.
I encourage manufacturers to help school districts create a buzz around their products by offering marketing materials that utilize their products but are geared towards student interests and participation.
Certainly manufacturers do provide some limited promotional options, but I would like to see something that makes them stand out from the crowd, something different than what anyone else is offering, and specialized towards the goals of school foodservice programs and the latest nutritional guidelines.
